Pressure Cooker explores the thorniest topics related to how we feed our kids. It reveals the insidiousness of America’s “silver bullet” food culture; confronts the isolation and confusion that come with trying to raise healthy children; and dishes out empathy and common sense to help parents gain confidence and perspective.

About the Hosts

Jane Black and Elizabeth Dunn are veteran food journalists. They’re also moms of children ranging in age from one to eleven. Pressure Cooker is their effort to sort through the crazy and offer support and validation to parents struggling to navigate manipulative marketing messages, impossible cultural expectations, and little people with big personalities.

  • Jane Black is a life-time food obsessive and James Beard-nominated journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. In 2022, she joined José Andrés Media as editorial director overseeing podcasts.

  • Elizabeth Dunn is a James Beard Award-nominated journalist whose work appears in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Esquire, Bon Appetit, The New Yorker and The Atlantic.

At José Andrés Media we believe that a meal is never just a plate of food. It tells the story of who we are and where we’re going. And it has the power to change the world.

We are storytellers exploring the ways that food connects us all: our shared food history and food future.
